DAVID DORSEY-AUTOBIOGRAPHY
Running & Nutrition Coach
My dad started to teach me about running and nutrition at the age of five. I ran track my sophomore year in high school, but I didn’t run competitively until joining the US Coast Guard in 1990. I ran my first 5k while stationed in Hawaii in 1992 and instantly fell in love with running.
I ran my first marathon in 1994 where it rained the entire time, and Oprah Winfrey beat me. I have run ten marathons including two NYC and four Marine Corps marathons— consistently trying to best my finish time.
While serving in the military, I had the honor of becoming a wellness/fitness coordinator at several units, coaching many people to achieve their fitness and weight loss goals.
From 2010 to 2013, I worked as a coach for Team in Training guiding people to run and walk half and full marathons.
Today I’m still competing as a member of the Central Park Track Club while also coaching and mentoring people in running and nutrition.
